Alyssum

Lobularia maritima, Sweet Alyssum. Easy to grow, this fragrant, hardy annual has dense, snow-white clusters of delicate flowers growing in mounds. Perfect for borders, rock gardens, containers and hanging baskets, this carefree heirloom has a rich aroma that is, quite frankly, a bit addictive. Alyssum may be started indoors five weeks before transplanting out, but it is easiest to direct sow it three to four weeks prior to the last spring frost date. To encourage flower production during the high heat of summer, give Sweet Alyssum a haircut once the blooms are spent so that it may bloom profusely until the first hard frost. Deer resistant. Hardy Annual. Summer-flowering. Height: 3" to 8".

Average seed life: 4 years.
