    • Thunbergia alata. An easy to grow annual, Black-Eyed Susan Vine is a sun-loving, flowering vine.       Thunbergia alata, Black-Eyed Susan Vine. Easily and rapidly grown in full sunlight, Black-Eyed Susan Vine should be direct-sown outdoors after all danger of frost has passed or started indoors 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting out into the garden. Provide even moisture and strong light during germination. Transplant out into the garden after hardening off the plants by gradually acclimating them to the outdoors over 7 to 10 days. It prefers full sunlight but can tolerate part-day, full sunlight. Plant in rich, moist, well-draining soil with structural support (fence, trellis, lattice or netting) for its vigorously growing vines. It is also wonderful in hanging baskets. Black-Eyed Susan Vine will quickly grow into a living screen loaded with bell-shaped, 1" tubular flowers and large, blue-green, triangular foliage. Summer flowering. Height: 4' to 5'.
