North Georgia Candy Roaster Squash

90-100 days. This rare heirloom was grown by the Cherokee Indians in the southeastern U.S. in the 1800s, and is still popular in gardens of the Appalachian region. The sprawling plants yield several banana-shaped Squashes averaging 10-12 pounds and 18-24” long and 5-6” wide, maturing from pale yellow to peachy pink with pale blue-gray ends and streaks. The smooth and creamy orange flesh is super sweet and can be used for roasting, baking and frying, and in pies, soups and stews. It can be successfully stored for up to six months, and will become even sweeter with age! (OP.)
