Lemon Summer Squash

55 days. The shape, size and color of a smooth lemon, this Summer Squash is unique and delicious! The plants are easy to grow, ridiculously prolific, pest resistant and tolerant of temperature extremes. Pick the fruits regularly at about 3” to maintain production, which can continue through fall!   • A reliable warm weather producer, Summer Squash should be sown as transplants 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost date. Or it is best direct-sown when the soil is above 50°F. Thin skinned, they store poorly, so harvest right before use. Keep picking to ensure continued production. Avoid baseball bats~enjoy them small and sweet in ratatouille, stuffed and baked, grilled or sautéed with pasta. Bee friendly. Deer resistant.
