Salvia horminum, syn. S. viridis. An extremely uniform, valuable and interesting addition to summer borders and containers, our weather-tolerant Marble Arches Mixture is a blend of intense blue, deep rose and glistening white varieties. Growing to just 10" tall in bright sunlight, the classic Salvia flower bracts rise above the foliage for a sea of sparkling blooms (perfect for July 4th in warmer climates and if started early enough).     • The subject of unabashed adoration by feasting hummingbirds, Salvia is terrific for garden display as well as airy summer bouquets. Make sure to cut the stems when the flowers are in full bloom. Start Salvia indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last spring frost date. Salvia will reward you with nonstop blooms well into the fall when the first frost kisses its colorful plumage. Deer resistant. Summer to fall flowering.

      Salvia. It is best to start Salvia indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost date. Sow shallowly since light aids germination. Pamper with 65°- 75°F temperatures, strong light, good air circulation and moist soil by covering flats or pots with plastic wrap. Remove plastic wrap after the sprouts emerge. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant to larger, deeper pots for full root system development. After all danger of frost has passed, harden them off by gradually acclimating them to the outdoors over 7 to 10 days. Transplant out or direct-sow in rich, well-draining soil and full to partial sunlight. Water regularly and mulch to deter weeds and retain ground moisture but keep mulch away from Salvia’s stems. Salvia Victoria has graceful spires of deep blue, tubular flowers and is prized for garden display as well as long-lasting cut and dried flower arrangements. Summer flowering.
