Golden Rod Zucchini

50-55 days. Cucurbita pepo. This glossy, sunflower-yellow Zucchini is the earliest yellow variety available. Golden Rod produces uniform, long, cylindrical fruits that color up early with reduced green ends. Its compact plants are open, making harvest less of a treasure hunt. Pick Golden Rod when it is just 8" long for the sweetest and tastiest flavor and to encourage its productive yield. (F1.)

  • A reliable warm weather producer, Zucchini should be sown as transplants 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost date. Or it is best direct-sown when the soil is above 50°F. Thin skinned, they store poorly, so harvest right before use. Keep picking to ensure continued production. Avoid baseball bats~enjoy them small and sweet in ratatouille, stuffed and baked, grilled or sautéed with pasta. Bee friendly. Deer resistant.

    Average seed life: 2 years.
