Extrakta Garden Sage

More robust and uniform than common Sage, this improved German variety has a delightful fragrance due to a higher essential oil content. Sage adds a wonderful scent and beauty to the garden with gray-green foliage and purple-blue flower spikes. Sow it in a fine soil mix or with one-quarter fine sand added to seed starter mix. Transplants need evenly moist soil for two weeks after transplanting, but Sage is drought-tolerant once established. Plants become woody, so replace every two to three years. Fresh Sage has a richer taste than the dried form. Perennial. Hardiness zones: 5-9; can be grown as an annual in colder zones. Height: 12" to 24". (OP.)

Average seed life: 1 year.
