Purple Top White Globe Turnip

55 days. Magenta shoulders and smooth white flesh are the hallmark of this classic and widely grown southern heirloom from the late 1800s. The roots average between 3" and 4" in diameter, but can occasionally balloon to 6", though larger size diminishes their mild taste. A fall crop yields even better Turnips, as does a kiss of frost before harvest. (OP.)
