Burgess Buttercup Winter Squash

85-100 days. Cucurbita maxima. The gold-standard of Winter Squash, this classic heirloom produces 3- to 5-pound, turban-type blocky fruits with a thin but tough, deep green rind and a distinctive blue-gray button on the blossom end. The flesh is deep orange, smooth and stringless, and richly sweet. The vines sprawl up to 15', but the real estate they consume will be rewarded with up to a dozen large fruits per vine. The fruits store well for months. (OP.)
