Nasturtiums

Featured Recipes:

Tropaeolum majus. Prized for their sweet-spicy flavor, these dwarf, mounding heirlooms are among the most widely grown edible flowers. With a bit of a peppery tang, nasturium blossoms are often added to salads as a zesty garnish over a citrus vinaigrette. A sprinkling of colorful nasturtium blossoms lends the perfect finishing touch to cold cucumber soup, fresh pineapple sorbet or an islandy mango mousse. Easy to grow in full to filtered sunlight, this beloved annual may be direct-sown after the last frost date in the spring or started indoors as a transplant five weeks prior to the last frost date. It flowers best with cooler nights. All season flowering. Mounding/Bush varieties are great for borders and Climbing/Trailing varieties are good fro window boxes, hanging baskets and trellises. Annual. Summer to early fall flowering.

Average seed life: 2 to 3 years.
