Nepeta x faassenii. Technically an herb, aromatic Catmint Nepeta is absolutely splendid in ornamental garden borders. It has delicate pale cornflower-blue flowers above opulent mounds of pale green foliage with a spicy-sweet scent that is released when you run your hands through them. Easy to grow, it thrives in full to partial sunlight in almost any type of soil. It should be direct sown into the garden after the last frost date or started indoors for transplant out. Catmint may bloom the first year if started early enough in the spring. To encourage a second wave of blooms, cut the stalks back after the first flowers have faded. Perennial. Summer flowering. Height: 12” to 24”.
